With over 2,000 heart operations performed, HOSPITEN´s Cardiovascular Surgery department has for year been at the forefront of techniques in this field, using arterial inserts, surgery without an extracorporeal pump, coronary revascularisation with epidural anaesthetic while the patient is awake, mitral and aortic valve repair, minimum-access surgery, endovascular repair of the thoracic and abdominal aorta, amongst many other procedures.
