Rheumatology is one of the more recent specialisms in Internal Medicine. It has a wide remit, given that it involves the study and treatment of illnesses affecting the joints and tissues, such as arthritis and arthrosis - which give patients a great deal of trouble and occur frequently in the general population  and other conditions, such as fibromyalgia (which has a great social impact).
