| Family and Community Medicine is a specialism that co-ordinates all the health problems of the patient and his/her family group, from a more psycho-social than technical point of view, getting involved with the patient and managing all the resources available so as to save the patient time and avoid unnecessary inconvenience, as well as helping him/her to understand the context of the illness, from a personal, family and social point of view. The family doctor tries to learn about the patient?s surroundings and discovers the risk factors, on which basis each meting will serve as an ideal opportunity to apply measures for prevention and promoting health, as well as appropriate healthcare information and education. The doctor also assists families in resolving seemingly innocuous problems, which could present health risks. |
