Last August 21, a delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Health paid a visit to the HOSPITEN Cancun facilities to contrast information on the protocols and procedures of a hospital offering such a wide range of services and able to deal with a wide variety of situations, as when confronting contagious diseases.

On July 1, 2 and 3, HOSPITEN Lanzarote hosted a training course on "Advanced Life Support" for medical personnel, whose aim was to better the capacity of response of the staff in cases of patients in cardio-respiratory arrest.

The Anahuac University in Mexico and the HOSPITEN Group have signed an agreement of collaboration for the training and teaching of doctors in Cancun. HOSPITEN Cancun has, therefore, become the first private teaching hospital in Quintana Roo State.

After the moving award-giving ceremony, there was an interesting, live conversation between Pedro Luis Cobiella, President of the HOSPITEN group, and journalist Juan Cruz Ruiz, Deputy Director of "El Pais".

HOSPITEN Cancun has been awarded the certification of the Mexican "Consejo de Salubridad General" (General Health Board), endorsing it as the only hospital certified by the federal body in the whole of Quintana Roo State.

On the occasion of Euromelanoma Day a number of HOSPITEN Group dermatologists carried out examinations to look for possible skin cancers and to evaluate the risk for each patient.

Last February saw the birth of Ana, weighing in at 3 kilograms 400 grams, the second sister of the first child to be born at the HOSPITEN hospital in Estepona in 2005.

Dr Jaime Pinzon, Consultant Urologist, and Macarena Guerra, Operating Room Supervisor, spoke at the Career Guidance Days for 4th year E.S.O. pupils from the Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria de Cancelada High School. The talks were about what medicine means and how to become a good medical or nursing professional and about the qualifications needed and future prospects in these professions.

18 pupils, aged between 16 and 17, and their teacher, Antonia Alonso, from the Instituto Monterroso high school had the chance to see how a hospital and all its departments work and to learn about the different diagnostic tests.

It was in January 1969 that the doors of the first HOSPITEN Group hospital opened ? HOSPITEN Bellevue in Puerto de la Cruz on the island of Tenerife. That first hospital was the response to the demand for healthcare services in the north of Tenerife and is, currently, a modern hospital with 183 beds and the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technology.
