The Hospiten Heart Surgery Unit is awarded for its profesional development and human quality

Today the Hospiten Rambla Heart Surgery Unit received the Radio Club Tenerife/Cadena Ser award in recognition of its professional development and the human quality of its team at an event organized by the radio station to celebrate its 80th anniversary and at which the president of Hospiten, Pedro Luis Cobiella, took part.

Dr. Rafael Llorens, head of the Heart Surgery Unit, accepted the award from the president of the Canary Government, Paulino Rivero, in the presence of journalist Iñaki Gabilondo, who travelled to the island to present the program “Contigo” (“With you”), and the regional director of the Cadena Ser in the Canaries, Lourdes Santana, who referred to the service as “the best heart unit in Spain” and gave a special mention to “the human quality” of the doctors making up the unit.

Launched in 1996, the Hospiten Rambla Heart Surgery Unit has pioneered a number of techniques that have contributed to improving the quality of life of its patients, who will  number 6,000 this June, and has become a key part of the healthcare services provided to cardiovascular patients in the Canaries, carrying out an average of 450 operations a year.
