Hospiten Estepona has a new state-of-the-art Catheterization Laboratory, incorporating the latest advances in image-guided therapy. The Philips Azurion 7 C20 with FlexArm is more modern, at the forefront of current technology, and is very versatile meaning it is capable of performing multiple specialties and techniques. Above all, Dr. Antonio Ramíiez, Head of the Cardiology Service at Hospiten Estepona, tells us, "it improves patient safety by reducing radiation doses."
This innovative system, incorporated in the new Cath Lab at Hospiten Estepona, is ceiling-suspended so it provides unlimited flexibility when acquiring images during different procedures, as well as greater freedom in terms of positioning for medical professionals.
This is all part of a compact, efficient configuration, ready for the procedures of the future. By being user-centered, the Philips Azurion with FlexArm helps optimize equipment performance and to deliver exceptional care.
Dr. Ramirez explains that “hemodynamics is responsible for the anatomical and functional study of the heart and blood vessels by introducing fine catheters through the arteries and veins in the groin or arm. This subspecialty of cardiology means cardiovascular diseases can be diagnosed and treated with minimally invasive techniques, in line with the most advanced medicine”.
What studies can be carried out in this new facility?
The new Cath Lab at Hospiten Estepona allows us to improve many of the procedures currently performed in the center, and those of the future. Some procedures already carried out are:
• Catheterization and hemodynamic studies to diagnose valvular diseases, myocardium, etc.
• Coronary angiograms to check for blockages or narrowing of the coronary arteries
• Ventriculography and angiography to understand the functioning of our heart, valves, the degree of involvement of the aorta and pulmonary arteries
Advantages of the Philips Azurion 7 C20
The main advantages of this new technology focus both on patient treatment and on the workflow of medical professionals, which will ultimately also affect the patient’s well-being:
• Unlimited flexibility in image acquisition, thanks to its eight rotational axes so the patient does not have to move at all
• Effective dose management as a result of obtaining high-quality images in many clinical interventions, making it possible to work with very low doses of radiation focused on the exact point where it is needed
• Time saving. With this system, professionals can work in the examination room and in the control room at the same time, without interfering with each other, optimizing action time for the patient
At the Hospiten Group we work continuously to improve the quality of our services and patient care, not only with the latest, most innovative tools, but also with a team of highly qualified professionals.
