Although the number of women receiving timely treatment to cure breast cancer increases every month, this disease continues to be the leading cause of death in women worldwide, with 1.7 million new cases diagnosed annually, of which 22,000 die, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) since many are detected in advanced stages and not when presenting the first signs of possible cancer.
The month of October was chosen by the World Health Organization to give greater publicity to the fight against breast cancer, and as a result, various institutions carry out activities, forums and talks for women in order to invite them to perform self- examine their breasts.
In this regard, at a press conference Hospiten Puerto Vallarta announced the series of talks to be given on the subject of the fight against breast cancer, timely detection, treatment and the process of the development of cancer.
The talk will be given by Dr. Sarita Arlem Villa Zertuche, specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Hospiten Puerto Vallarta, who will explain in detail from the warning signs to detect the cancer to the consequences of not being attended by a doctor and the treatments.
Dr. Villa Zertuche reported that the chances of recovery in breast cancer decrease when not detected in time, since there is between a 78 and 90 percent chance of curing the disease if diagnosed in stage 1.
