Hospiten Roca has launched a new 24-hour pediatric emergency service consisting of a professional team of 10 pediatricians with extensive experience in child care, who will have a permanent physical presence 365 days a year.
The new area, which is a separate service from the general emergency room, has 4
individual observation boxes with exclusive bathrooms for children, two separate medical consultations, a pediatric nursing consultation and an exclusive waiting room for children and their companions .
The unit also has support from the hospital, laboratory and radiodiagnostic services, as well as a multidisciplinary pediatric support team in the areas of cardiology, urology, otolaryngology, traumatology, neurology, digestive services and ophthalmology.
The team will be led by Dr. Sandra Serrano, specialist in pediatrics at the hospital, who has shown the advantage of this new 24-hour pediatrics service, making it possible to give a more rapid medical response in cases involving minors and to provide the parents or guardians with specific information first hand, thus reducing the anguish that can sometimes be caused by ignorance or the lack of information.
"It is important for parents to know that they can count on an emergency care service that supports them and that will cover any emergency, from initial care to more critical situations they may experience with their children, without having to travel to the capital,” adds Dr. Serrano.
The Hospiten Group with this opening aims to serve the child population of southern Gran Canaria, which did not have a service of this kind. It is therefore the first hospital to offer this specialized service in this part of ??the island.
