The Prime Minster of Jamaica, Portia Simpson Miller, and the president of the Canary company, Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella, presented the project of the new hospital.

The Hospiten Group, whose capital is 100% Canary, will take a further step this year in their international expansion plan with the construction of a  new hospital in Jamaica, in which the company will invest 15 million euros.

The Jamaican Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, and the president of the Hospiten Group, Pedro Luis Cobiella, participated on Friday, February 17, in the presentation of the new hospital to be located in the tourist resort of Montego Bay, on the north coast of the country, and the opening of which is planned for the second half of 2015.

With this step, the Hospiten Group continues its plan to grow on the international market, in which Spanish healthcare professionals play an important role, as part of the staff joining new Hospiten hospitals are from Spain.

At the presentation event, attended by over a hundred people, Dr. Cobiella stated that “the maxim of the Hospiten Group has always been the quest for quality and excellence in both medical services and in the care given to the patient, which has contributed to the international recognition of our hospitals”.

The Hospiten president went on to explain that “the success of Hospiten’s expansion plan is based fundamentally on respect, commitment and adaptability to the culture and idiosyncrasies of each country in which we settle”. He also pointed out that the philosophy of Hospiten has always been to provide medical services to the local population and to tourists visiting the place.

Since 2008, Jamaica has become a priority destination for Hospiten, where the group already has 13 ambulatory health centers under the name Clinic Assist, in the various tourist resorts on the island, at Montego Bay airport and in Falmouth Port.

The presentation of the project was also attended by the Hospiten Group Managing Director, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, who stated that “the main goal of Hospiten is to take medical-hospital services to the highest level, combining vanguard medical technology with highly-qualified healthcare professionals”. In addition, he explained that “the hospital will be on three floors, with a total floor area of 4,529 m2 on a 16,000 m2 lot.

The design of the new hospital is such that it fully meets international and Jamaican norms and technical requirements for safety for a center lending quality healthcare services, taking into account the medical specialties to be offered. Its opening will create 300 jobs and an equivalent number during the construction phase.

The plans of the Hospiten Group are that the hospital will have 22 hospitalization beds, radio-diagnostics including MRI, CT Scanning, conventional radiology, mammography, ultrasound and a remote control room, a surgical block consisting of two operating rooms and a birthing room, an intensive care unit, laboratory, outpatients’ and a 24-hour Emergency Room.

The Hospiten Group is made up of sixteen private medical-hospital centers located in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica, and over a hundred ambulatory health centers under the name Clinic Assist.
