HOSPITEN Tamaragua ends the successful ‘Insomnia – problems sleeping?’ talk.

Posted on 22-05-2013

Last Friday, May 17, the talk ‘Insomnia - problems sleeping?’ was held at Hospiten Tamaragua in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, given by Dr Leopoldo Mendez, neurophysiologist, Head of the Hospiten Bellevue Sleep Unit.

The talk aimed to explain what sleep is and its purpose, the main conditions affecting sleep such as insomnia, sleep apnea or restless legs syndrome, their symptoms and diagnosis and treatment. Sleep disorders arouse a lot of general interest and are of great social and medical importance.

Sleep disorders are detrimental to the quality of life of sufferers and can, on occasions, cause or lead to other diseases like depression, high blood pressure, heart attack and so on. Once diagnosed, there is a specific and effective treatment. Some disorders require medical treatment, others surgical, but in most cases, the problem is solved by adopting lifestyle habits and routines.

The Sleep Unit is a space specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of everyone who suffers a sleep disorder. Conferences like this strengthen HOSPITEN’s commitment to informing the general public and professionals in the sector of health subjects of interest.
