On February 13, a talk organized by the Neurology Service was held at HOSPITEN Tamaragua in Puerto de la Cruz on Alzheimer’s Disease.
Over a hundred people attended the 2-hour talk at the center in which Dr Clara Sainz, consultant neurologist, explained the symptoms of the disease, its diagnosis, possible treatments and offered useful advice for suffers and their next-of-kin.
Alzheimer’s is a neurodegeneraive disease, one of whose earliest symptoms is memory loss and which progressively leads to perceptive, language and emotional problems, worsening as the disease advances. It is the most common form of dementia, causing irreversible loss of intellectual capacities, loss of the structure of daily life (family, working and social life), and in time, the Alzheimer’s patient will be completely dependent until the end of their life.
These informative talks endorse the commitment of the HOSPITEN Group to supporting these patients and, above all, their families in addition to informing the general public about healthcare matters of interest.
