On the occasion of World Heart Day, Hospiten carried out an awareness campaign in Marbella, Algeciras and the Canary Islands.
As in each year, on the occasion of World Heart Day, Hospiten carried out an awareness campaign to make the public see the importance of looking after their heart and how to go about it. To do so, Hospiten staff went to different shopping malls in Marbella, Algerciras, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria.
Using the slogan 'For a Healthy Heart', the public was encouraged to take up healthy habits and apples were handed out to passersby, as well as offering to take blood pressure. The aim of the Hospiten Cardiology Service is to get a positive message across, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, like including vegetables, fruit and fish in our diet.
Cardiovascular disease is one of the greatest causes of disability and death currently affecting society. However, being responsible for our own health, we can prevent heart disease by avoiding a series of risk factors. Through these activities, the Hospiten Cardiology Service is trying to show the general public the best ways to minimize the risk factors, like keeping one’s weight under control and doing regular exercise.
Apart from age and a family history of heart disease, there are a series of external risk factors that can lead to cardiovascular disease, like diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, bad eating habits and being overweight or sedentary or stressful lifestyles, etc.
