As part of their commitment to fighting COVID-19, Hospiten Santa Domingo has set up a floor specially prepared to treat patients with symptoms of coronavirus and those diagnosed with the disease.
The internationally renowned medical center explains that they have equipped an area specifically to deal with the virus, which covers about 50% of hospitalization beds in the hospital and the Intensive Care Unit with two isolation cubicles for infectious contagious patients. Both areas are currently at full capacity so the center is unable to attend more COVID-19 patients.
The hospital also explained that other departments and services at the center are operating as normal and offering the same quality as always, with the other hospitalization areas for patients with other medical and surgical conditions completely separate. The aim is to isolate contact areas and ensure the safety of patients, their families and medical staff.
According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, an action plan was drawn up to ensure the wellbeing of patients, doctors, collaborators and medical staff.
Hospiten medical staff have been equipped to work on the diagnosis, evaluation and monitoring of patients admitted at the hospital with symptoms of the disease.
Furthermore, Hospiten has prepared a protocol for dealing with patients suspected of being infected with the virus with controls at the entrance of the hospital, separate areas in the E.R. to prioritize medical care and to avoid contact with patients with other conditions.
