COVID-19 tests available at Hospiten

Posted on 08-05-2020

The Hospiten Group is offering COVID-19 testing for those who require it to identify patients infected with the virus, as well as those who have developed antibodies by analyzing their immune response by means of IgM and IgG antibody testing.

Hospiten is offering private individuals with a doctor’s prescription COVID-19 testing at their centers in the Canary Islands. Hospiten patients must call their local hospital to make an appointment for a free COVID-19 video-consultation where the doctor will advise the patient on the best course of action and prescribe the most suitable type of test, and in the case the test is carried out, communicate and discuss the results.

The types of test available are: PCR qualitative detection, which tells us whether the patient is infected or not and antibody tests, both the qualitative IgG and IgM antibody test (known as the rapid diagnostic test) and the quantitative IgG and IgM antibody test.

Once individual clinical evaluation has been carried out, testing can be recommended for different collective groups who may have been more exposed to the virus or who may put other workers at risk within the company or those coming into contact with the company.

This new service falls into line with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) which recommend testing the public to be able to isolate those infected. Furthermore, these tests will determine when normality can be reestablished.

In parallel to this, the group is maintaining their services fully operational at all the Hospiten centers, including 24-hour E.R., hospitalization, ICU, Outpatients, operating rooms, laboratory, radio-diagnostics and the dialysis unit.

With 50 years of experience, Hospiten has 20 private medical-hospital centers in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama, and attends over 1,700,000 patients from all over the world annually and has a workforce of more than 5,000 people.
