Cancun, October 9, 2020: Hospiten is very satisfied with the capacity to respond and attend to more than 26,000 tourists evacuated last Wednesday, October 7, on the arrival of Hurricane Delta.
In under 6 hours, between 6 pm and midnight on October 6, the Hospiten emergency medical plan was activated to attend tourists displaced to a number of shelters in the State of Quintana Roo. More than 50 medical professionals were immediately put on alert, with their respective emergency teams, to be ready to attend the thousands of tourists.
The plan was activated in the 39 shelters affected and maintained until Thursday, October 8, ensuring the health and safety of the evacuees until they were able to return to their hotels.
The coordinated teamwork of the entire tourism sector was key to acting effectively and reinforcing the destination's safety during extreme weather conditions.
Likewise, security protocols in the event of this type of emergency at Hospiten Group hospitals in Cancun and Riviera Maya were activated in wards and medical teams stood by to provide uninterrupted emergency back up.
