Santa Cruz de Tenerife, December 4, 2020 - Hospiten Lanzarote launches a new neurosurgery service directed by Dr. Dailos Betancor, who specialized in neurosurgery at the Insular Materno Infantil University Hospital, is a university expert in Diagnostic Management of Brain Tumors and Tumors in Pediatric Age, holds a master's degree in Neuro-Oncology and is a member of the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery.
The launch of this service will mean that patients with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and spine (CNS – central nervous system) can be operated and treated at Hospiten’s center in Lanzarote without having to leave the island.
Dr. Betancor considers that the new service represents a substantial improvement in the healthcare available to patients in Lanzarote, as it will allow more extensive monitoring of the different diseases related to neurosurgery and provide more direct, rapid care.
The doctor explained that there are diseases of the brain and the spine (mainly cervical and lumbar) that require evaluation by a specialist in Neurosurgery for their treatment. Now, they can be treated directly in Lanzarote.
The Neurosurgery Service opening at Hospiten Lanzarote will work closely with other hospital services, like Neurology, Neurophysiology or Rehabilitation, to guarantee the multidisciplinary care of patients.
