Santa Cruz de Tenerife, June 22 2021. Hospiten repeats its participation in the Canarias Masterclass 2021 program with the presence of a large team of the group’s professionals who will act as mentors in their respective fields of medicine for future students interested in healthcare or research careers. These young people take part in the initiative, promoted by Canary Talent, a non-profit association that aims to offer students professional career guidance and of which Hospiten has been a member for 6 years.
Through online or presential sessions, the Hospiten healthcare professionals will be able to show how they work daily to people interested in studying university degrees related to the scientific field. Likewise, they will answer the students’ questions, give advice and show the students what to expect a typical day will be like if they finally decide to make healthcare their chosen profession.
The tutors taking part are: Professor Manuel Maynar, director of the Endovascular and Endoluminal Service, professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and director of the Medical Technologies Chair at the ULPGC; Dr. Santiago Gonzalez Moreno, Medical Director at MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid; Dr. Alejandro de la Rosa, Head of Cardiology at Hospiten Rambla University Hospital and specialist in Sports Cardiology; Dr. Javier Estigarribia, of the Cardiovascular Surgery at the Hospiten Bellevue and Hospiten Rambla University Hospitals; Dr. Lola Perez Jaraiz, gynecologist at the Hospiten Rambla University Hospital; Dr. Carlos Blanco-Soler, Head of Gynecology at Hospiten Roca and Oscar Elices, head of the Hospiten Group Works and Projects Department.
This year, Donato Monopoli, Head of Biomedical Engineering at the ‘Instituto Tecnologica de Canarias’ (ITC) and collaborator with the Medical Technologies Chair at the ULPGC, is also participating with the Hospiten Group and Canarias Masterclass.
Canarias Masterclass selects a total of 50 2nd-year Canary High School students who are considered talents after passing a 4-phase selection process to obtain a place on the course and the prize of a Masterclass with the expert in the field they hope to start studying next course.
By participating in this project, Hospiten consolidates its commitment to training and academic education, thus confirming the group’s commitment to patients and to training of human talent.
