Hospiten Santo Domingo opens its new building for outpatient care and the adult and paediatric accident and emergency departments

Posted on 06-06-2023

SANTO DOMINGO. - 6 June 2023. The Executive Chairman of the Hospiten Group, Juan José Hernández Rubio, has officially opened the new installations at the Santo Domingo hospital, by His Excellency Mr. Luis Abinader Corona President of the Dominican Republic.

With an investment of 12 million dollars, the centre includes a new building for medical appointments, an enlarged adult accident and emergency section and a new and separate 24-hour paediatric emergency department, specially adapted for young patients.

The expansion to the Outpatient Department has involved the incorporation of 40 additional specialists to our excellent medical team, doubling the potential number of doctor appointments.

The new Paediatric Emergency Department is already up and running, providing a better quality service for younger patients, with a completely separate waiting room and paediatricians on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. It is specially equipped to facilitate medical attention, including cubicles adapted for children equipped with spray facilities.

The building and equipping of the new Adult Accident and Emergency Unit has created more space and an expanded service, with a triage section and swift attention, in addition to a surgery room, with resuscitation and isolation or negative pressure cubicles for greater patient safety.

These improvements complement those already made to the surgery unit and hemodynamics room. Together these will provide more space allowing a 50% increase to hospitalisation capacity in the near future. Our objective now is to continue to expand and improve the rest of the hospital installations.

“These new developments have been made possible thanks to all the efforts and hard work of our exceptional staff, of whom we are immensely proud”, declared Hernández Rubio

He went on to state that, “after more than 20 years in the Dominican Republic, they continue to work with commitment and passion to provide first class medical service, hospital care and personal attention for their patients”.

In addition to the latest modern facilities, Hospiten also offers technological innovations to improve the patient experience via a state of the art system that enables the automation of processes for greater convenience. This includes an application that allows users to book, consult or reschedule their medical appointments and those of their families.

Hernández Rubio affirms that "at Hospiten everything is possible thanks to a professional team that strives towards constant improvement every day, taking on each new project with the same spirit of innovation and excellence with which we began”.

He took the opportunity to thank the members of the medical team that have been part of Hospiten Santo Domingo for all these years and welcome more than 40 new specialists who will joining the Hospiten family with the enlarged installations. He then stated that, “apart from the new infrastructures and latest generation equipment, our priority nevertheless remains our human capital, a specialized team who provide medical attention with a true dedication to their vocation and patients”.

“For us, Hospiten is not just a job, it is a way of life, a means of bringing tranquillity to society; and it is an honour to continue to grow and offer services in this country which has welcomed us with such warmth since the first day”, concluded Juan José Hernández Rubio.
