As part of its commitment to social responsibility, Hospiten partnered with the Keeping Kids in School Foundation (KKIS) to organize a storytelling contest for the students of Constituyentes de 1974 School in Cristo Rey. This community is situated on the outskirts of Playa del Carmen and can be reached by a 30-minute drive along a dirt road.
This public school, serving the local children, became the focal point for an inspiring storytelling contest held in April. In this call for entries, children were encouraged to craft stories that conveyed values using the beloved characters from "The Adventures of Ospi." These characters, which include a frog, a giraffe, a little bird, a parrot, and a lion, personify the qualities of five children and are the central figures in exciting adventures related to health, friendship, love, and hope.
The undisputed winner of this contest was Yamila, a talented sixth-grade girl, whose story titled "You Are Unique" addresses the crucial theme of learning to love yourself just the way you are. Yamila's story was adapted and brought to life on stage through two performances at the school, using a puppet theater created by Hospiten. The joy radiating from this young author and her mother as they witnessed their story being enacted on stage was palpable.
The event, known as "The Adventures of Ospi," took place on September 13th and featured a puppet theater performance of the contest-winning story, marking the culmination of this joint initiative between Hospiten and KKIS. The participating children, some accompanied by their parents, attended the performance. Among them, Yamila, accompanied by her emotional mother who was shedding tears of excitement as her daughter's creation graced the stage.
Following the puppet show, the 24 children who participated in the contest were treated to gifts and lunches generously provided by Hospiten and KKIS. This gesture of nourishing and rewarding the young authors underscores the commitment of both organizations and highlights the importance of recognizing and celebrating children's efforts and creativity. This thoughtful gesture further strengthens the bonds between the community and the entities dedicated to promoting education and the well-being of children.
Hospiten's unwavering commitment to social responsibility was once again evident through this initiative, not only providing entertainment and education for the youth but also emphasizing the significance of collaboration among organizations dedicated to the welfare of children and youth. The enduring partnership between the KKIS Foundation and Hospiten, which has spanned nearly seven years, serves as a shining example of their exceptional work in vulnerable communities like Cristo Rey. This collaboration among organizations demonstrates that working together can make a significant impact on the lives of young people and the development of disadvantaged communities, creating a profound social effect.
