Dr. Wilfrido Castañeda-Zuñiga, a world eminence in the field of minimally invasive surgery and interventional radiology, gave a videoconference in Hospiten Rambla, which was transmitted to all the healthcare group’s hospitals.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, September 14 2015: Hospiten has held a videoconference for all the group’s hospitals, including MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid, at which over a hundred professionals learned of the latest advances in the field of minimally invasive surgery in endoluminal/vascular techniques and in interventional radiology for diagnostics and therapy.

The conference took place in Hospiten Rambla and was given by Dr. Wilfredo Castañeda-Zuñiga, a world eminence in the field, who described the mechanism of angioplasty when the procedure was just starting to be used in clinical practice and is considered the pioneer of Endourology, mainly the development of percutaneous access for nephrolithotripsy, a procedure widely used to extract stones and tumors from the renal pelvis. His group in Minnesota also described coronary angiography and the first interventions in the field of congenital cardiopathy.

Professor Castañeda, who will also speak at the University of La Laguna, was invited to give the conference by Professor Doctor Manuel Maynar, head of the Hospiten Endoluminal/Endovascular Diagnostics and Therapeutics Service and Director of the Endoluminal Diagnostics and Therapeutics Center (CDyTE).

Through such actions, Hospiten seeks to consolidate their commitment to the continued education of their professionals with the aim of becoming an international reference for quality services, to promote the wellbeing of the patient and his/her family, and to provide motivation for their staff.
