The Hospiten Group advances in its internationalization with the purchase of a hospital in Panama

The Spanish Healthcare Group continues its policy of expansion in Central America with the acquisition of one of the most prestigious centers in Panama City

The Hospiten Group has taken another step forward in its policy of international expansion with the acquisition of Centro Medico Paitilla (www.centromedicopaitilla.com), one of the most prestigious hospitals, with the best facilities and human resources in Panama, in which a renowned, prestigious group of Panamanian doctors practice medicine.

In this way, the Hospiten Group continues its international expansion by consolidating its position as a reference in the provision of medical-hospital services at the highest level. The group, chaired by Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella consolidates with this acquisition its commitment to Panama where it has been present since 2013.

Panama is one of the countries with the highest growth and solidity in Central America, with a population of more than four million, and more than two and a half million tourists visiting the country every year.

CMP - A cutting-edge hospital

Centro Medico Paitilla is one of the most prestigious hospitals in Panama City, and has a workforce of 650, in addition to a medical staff of 300 highly regarded specialists who practice their profession at the service of the community in the center. It was founded on July 15, 1975 to offer the community and doctors a new private hospital facility, with the highest standards. Since then, Centro Medico Paitilla continues to be an essential pillar in the development of the private health sector in Panama. It attends almost 100,000 patients annually and has a maternity service attending 1,000 deliveries a year.

Centro Medico Paitilla, with an approximate surface area of 15,000 square meters, is a comprehensive hospital that covers most medical specialties, standing out, for more than four decades, as a pioneer in the use of cutting-edge medical technology. It has 103 rooms and a 14-bed Intensive Care Unit.

The hospital also has a large maternity and gynecology area, a newborn care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit and a neonatal semi-intensive care unit; Surgery Unit with four operating rooms for general surgery, minimally invasive surgery and ambulatory major surgery; fully-equipped 24-hour emergency service; Diagnostic Imaging Unit including Digital Radiology, Digital Screening Mammography, Digital Fluoroscopy, High-Field Magnetic Resonance 3T, 64-slice CT, latest generation 4D ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, as well as a Nuclear Medicine service with dual head Gamma camera.

Centro Medico Paitilla also has a Polyvalent Digital Hemodynamics Unit (vascular and cardiac); Oncology Center with Chemotherapy and External Radiotherapy with Varian brand linear accelerator (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy), IGRT (Image-guided Radiotherapy) and VMAT (Volumetric Arc Therapy).

The purchase transaction was closed on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, once the due diligence process was completed. From this moment, Centro Medico Paitilla will be managed by the Hospiten Group, which has its Central Offices in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
