Femete (The Provincial Federation of Metal and New Technologies Companies in Santa Cruz de Tenerife) and the Hospiten Group have signed an agreement that will allowing COVID-19 testing for some 1,500 associated companies and 6,000 workers.

The agreement will mean that companies and professionals from Femete will be able to have their workers tested to identify patients infected with coronavirus, and those who have developed immunity to the virus by means of antibody testing. The Hospiten Group is offering access to testing at their network of centers and also, if required, the corresponding medical prescription and handling of results. The laboratory will send test results to the company medical service in compliance with data protection laws and the Spanish Register of Data Protection.

The tests available are PCR qualitative detection, which indicates whether a patient has the virus or not and antibody tests – both the qualitative IgG and IgM antibody test (known as the rapid diagnostic test) and the quantitative IgG and IgM antibody test. Once individual clinical assessment has been carried out, testing can be recommended for different collective groups who may have been more exposed to the virus or who may put other workers at risk within the company or those coming into contact with the company. These services fall into line with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO) which recommend the public have access to testing to be able to detect those infected or who have been infected

The agreement, which is for a period of one year and may be extended, was signed by the president of Femete, Alberto Villalobos, and the CEO of the Hospiten Group, Juan Jose Hernandez.
