This type of evaluation is a fundamental tool not only for runners but also for technicians, trainers and health professionals who advise on training planning to ensure that it is carried out in a safe and responsible manner.

The sports cardiological check-up includes an interview focused on cardiovascular risk factors, complete physical examination, electrocardiogram and echocardiography, where the cardiac function and possible congenital and/or acquired alterations are analyzed in detail. The specialists also perform a treadmill stress test adapted to the characteristics and needs of each athlete, to rule out arrhythmias, ischemia and assess the heart's response to exercise.
