The company reactivates this initiative aimed at improving the nutritional and sports habits of its personnel.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, May 28, 2024. Hospiten is launching the second edition of El Reto 180, an initiative that seeks to improve the nutritional and sports habits of its staff, with the aim of preventing cardiovascular diseases.
A total of 18 participants, all Hospiten employees, will take part for six months in a complete routine of sports activities, medical follow-up, nutritional re-education and medical check-ups. As a novelty in this edition, they will also have psychological support with professionals from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the European University of the Canary Islands.
Dr. Pedro Laynez, director of El Reto 180 and head of Internal Medicine at Hospiten Hospital Universitario Rambla states that "we have launched a new edition of the Challenge, taking into account the very favorable results we achieved last year. And, fundamentally, because at the company we see prevention as a way of life". "With small gestures and changes in our daily habits we can achieve better health data and, consequently, a better quality of life," he adds.
For María Cadenas, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the European University of the Canary Islands, "participating once again in this Challenge is a great opportunity for teachers and students, who have the chance to activate preventive measures for health in a real environment, an activity linked to our educational model, based on learning based on real projects".
During this period, the participants, on a voluntary basis, will see from the hand of specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Diagnostic Imaging and Diagnostic and Endoluminal Therapeutics that it is possible to change and have healthy lifestyle habits. In the same way, the physical training guidelines will be carried out under the supervision of teachers from the European University. Thanks to the collaboration of Ideco, with its Tenerife Santa Cruz-Ofra Sports Complex, and the Fitness Center HR training center, based in La Orotava, participants will be able to carry out their training sessions.
Among the medical tests that will be performed are analytical, cardiological or bioimpedance check-ups to monitor the participants and to know exactly the muscle gain, fat loss, detect cardiovascular risks, among others.
The project, promoted by Hospiten, has the collaboration, for yet another year, of the European University and the audiovisual production company Kikazaru, which will document the whole process. Ideco, a public company of the Cabildo de Tenerife dedicated to the management of sports and leisure centers and programs, and the Fitness Center HR, will also be involved in this edition.
