Obesity is a chronic, complex and multifactorial disease1 that affects one in 5 Canary Islanders (20.1%)2. With the aim of raising awareness of this condition and promoting a comprehensive approach, Hospiten Rambla, Hospiten Bellevue and Hospiten Sur University Hospitals will be hosting the "El Peso de lo Invisible"(The Weight of the Invisible) campaign on November 10, 11 and 12. Their facilities will have an information point where body composition and muscle strength tests will be carried out free of charge and guidance will be offered to those interested in a personalized report.

Those interested can visit each of the Hospiten hospitals in Tenerife for more information and to take part in these sessions, which will be held on November 10 at the Hospiten Rambla University Hospital from 9:00 to 14:00, November 11 at the Bellevue University Hospital, from 9:30 to 15:30 and November 12 at the Hospiten Sur University Hospital, from 9:00 to 14:00.

"The Weight of the Invisible" has been giving visibility to obesity for more than a year as a disease in which various and complex factors are involved and which requires an appropriate medical approach. The aim is to raise public awareness of the importance of metabolic health and to put an end to the prejudices and stigma that often surround people who live with obesity.

The initiative has been promoted by the medical company Lilly and has the backing of the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO) and the National Association of People Living with Obesity (ANPO).

Hospiten, thanks to this type of activity, reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of its patients, offering specialized care and training in dealing with chronic pathologies and inviting the public to take part in these meetings to raise awareness and provide information on fundamental health care issues.
