In addition to Spain, where it manages ten centers in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Estepona, Algeciras and Madrid, the company is also present in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama where it currently has another ten medical-hospital centers.

In Madrid, the company has a fully specialized center for cancer treatment, MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid, one of the most prestigious cancer centers in Spain and an affiliate of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which has access to the latest advances in the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Hospiten, a company with 100% Canary capital, closed 2018 with a turnover of 335 million euros. For the president of Hospiten, Dr. Pedro Luis Cobiella, these economic data "are encouraging and reinforce our commitment to the provision of medical-hospital services at the highest level in different parts of the world".

“After 50 years of hard work to improve health, I do not want to miss the opportunity to thank all the medical specialists and nursing staff for their dedication and work every day and, in general, to all those who have been part of this project and that have contributed to making Hospiten today synonymous with quality and international prestige. And thanks to all the patients who choose us and who trust us year after year, allowing us to grow”, he said.

Since its beginnings, the Group has established itself as a reference in health care for the population and has become increasingly specialized with the creation of specific units led by experts of recognized international prestige. Especially noteworthy are areas related to minimally invasive surgery, neurosurgery, traumatology, cardiology and cardiac surgery, the sleep unit, endoluminal surgery, gynecology, or cardiac electrophysiology, among others, where they have been pioneers in the development of techniques and treatments that place Hospiten at the forefront of medical innovation.

New challenges

Pedro Luis Cobiella points out that one of Hospiten's objectives is to strengthen its expansion in Latin America. However, the Canary company has also begun to study business opportunities in the Middle East.

Among other plans, Hospiten will focus its investments on the acquisition of state-of-the-art technology for its centers, in addition to reforming and extending infrastructures.

A year to celebrate

The Group has prepared an agenda of actions for 2019 to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Among these actions, the company has planned in-house acts to thank the employees for their work and commitment, corporate social responsibility actions that will strengthen its social commitment to the most vulnerable groups and a series of thematic conferences that will address subjects of medical interest.

All these actions will come under the banner “Hospiten, we’re improving for your health”.
