Hospiten Santo Domingo and UCSD signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the aim of strengthening academic training, scientific research, continuing education, and the development of professional competencies in the health sciences. The agreement was signed by Benjamín Palmero, managing director of Hospiten Santo Domingo, and Reverend Father José Luis de la Cruz, rector of the Catholic University of Santo Domingo. It provides for the creation and development of undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs, as well as initiatives in scientific research, university outreach, and social responsibility. It also establishes mechanisms to promote the exchange of knowledge, collaboration among faculty and researchers, and the organization of academic activities such as conferences, scientific symposia, lectures, courses, and workshops. “This partnership will allow both institutions to develop joint programs, projects, and activities that integrate Hospiten’s healthcare expertise with UCSD’s academic excellence, to promote the comprehensive training of students, graduates, and professionals for the benefit of the healthcare system and Dominican society,” said Benjamín Palmero. One of the main pillars of the agreement is the creation of opportunities for professional training, internships, clinical rotations, and clinical placements, allowing UCSD students to strengthen their training in a highly complex hospital setting, with access to cutting-edge technology and guidance from highly qualified specialists. In addition, both institutions will promote joint research projects on topics of mutual interest, encourage temporary exchanges of students, faculty, and researchers, and share teaching and research materials and resources, in accordance with each institution’s policies. Through this collaboration, Hospiten Santo Domingo reinforces its mission to contribute to the development of human talent in the healthcare field, promoting ongoing training and innovation as the cornerstones of quality medical care.
