•    The new hospital complex in Boadilla del Monte will generate some 800 new employment opportunities, in addition to around 350 people involved in its construction

•    Hospiten Boadilla will become the second Group centre within the region of Madrid, alongside MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid, a benchmark in oncology treatment and research

•    The BWRE real estate development group will lead the structuring of the project, launched with the aim of building a hospital complex destined to become a reference for healthcare at a national level.

Construction is now underway on a new university general hospital, which will be the latest addition to the Spanish and international Hospiten Group. Today, 5th June, the foundation ceremony was held for its future centre at Boadilla del Monte, in the region of Madrid. With installations comprising more than 55,000 square metres, a team of 350 personnel will be involved in building the complex, while 800 healthcare and other staff will be on hand once the hospital opens its doors.

Hospiten is working alongside BWRE, a real estate investment manager specializing in the transformation of mixed assets and developments. They will oversee the entire process, from the location, structuring, technical-financial development and project management of all the work necessary for the completion of a state of the art hospital complex designed to become a benchmark in healthcare and social welfare at a national level.

The official ceremony was attended by Javier Úbeda Liébana, the Mayor of Boadilla del Monte, Juan José Hernández Rubio, Executive President of Hospiten; Pedro Luis Cobiella Suárez, Honorary President of Hospiten, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, Hospiten Vice President and CEO and Diana Cobiella, Hospiten Board Member. The highlight of the event, witnessed by both dignitaries and members of the press, was the depositing of a symbolic urn in the ground where the future centre will be located. This included selected current objects to leave for posterity and mark the historic moment at which the building of the new hospital began.

Since Hospiten was first founded in 1969 in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) the company mission has been clear: namely to establish a well-being ecosystem focused on personalised care, supported by a combination of state of the art technology, innovation and sustainability. 55 years later, as the only entirely Spanish hospital group with an international presence, we can proudly state that our vision continues with this new Hospiten Boadilla, centre, affirmed the Hospiten Executive President, Juan José Hernández Rubio.

¨It is pleasure for the whole of Boadilla to welcome what will be the new Hospiten University Hospital. For us it represents a commitment to health, innovation and progress, and we are delighted that it will be in the hands of a group as well renowned as Hospiten¨, declared the local mayor Javier Úbeda Liébana.

With a total investment of 200 million euros, the new hospital centre, scheduled for completion in mid-2026, will offer 45 specialist clinical and surgery departments. In addition, it will provide 160 hospitalization rooms, including 20 suites, as well as 12 beds in the Intensive Care Unit, 20 in Accident and Emergency and 22 for outpatients. 17 surgery units, 5 labour rooms, 80 outpatient consultancy rooms and a haemodynamic room will complete the first private hospital in the Madrid town of Boadilla.

Caring for people

With this new venture, Hospiten continues to champion one of its prime objectives as a company: offering the best medical care available, always focused on the wellbeing of its patients. With this in mind, together with more than forty specialized areas of treatment, the centre will provide the very latest technology at its installations.

Along with the other countries where Hospiten has a presence — the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama—, in Spain it runs centres in the Canary Islands, where it is long established as one of most important hospital groups on the archipelago, as well as Estepona and Algeciras. Hospiten has already made its name as a benchmark private healthcare group with the acquisition of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in 2010, sole affiliate of the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (Texas, USA.). The renowned oncology centre has contributed to the expansion of Hospiten on the peninsular and is now recognised as a leader in the field of cancer treatment, with an impressive and highly qualified multidisciplinary team.

With the new opening of the university general hospital in Boadilla del Monte this expansion will continue, reinforcing our commitment to healthcare and employment in this district and the Madrid region as a whole.
